Welcome To Andromeda!

One thing you should know about the Andromeda Robotics team is that, just like robots, there are multiple components to how we function.

Grounding Andromeda, the hardware department is what gives our team its structure and strength, the way a robot’s frame acts as its backbone. They build the robot, design 3D-printed parts, and drive the team, both literally and figuratively, during competitions and, during our meets, the hardware team always ensures the robot is assembled and fully operational. Moreover, they craft custom 3D-printed components to tackle the game’s specific challenges, and carefully drive the robot on the field to execute precise maneuvers. By combining these three functions of building, designing, and driving, the hardware department forms the solid core of our team, giving it the strength and flexibility to perform under the intense demands of FTC competitions.

Next, our software department elevates Andromeda through advanced problem-solving, performing as the brains of our robot. They handle configuring the robot’s autonomous mode, movement code, and they maintain the team website. For instance, during the early weeks of the season, the software team programmed our robot to complete the autonomous challenge, tested sophisticated movement algorithms to optimize performance in the TeleOp period, and simultaneously updated the website to showcase our team’s diversity and progress to the robotics community. By integrating these three crucial tasks the software team ensures that our robot doesn’t just move, but moves intelligently, efficiently, and visibly within the robotics world.

Last but not least, the PR department serves as the wheels of our team, guiding us through communication and thorough logistical planning. Working in unison with Andromeda’s vital partners and sponsors like Office Nova, Craft Solutions and Custom Projects, they contribute to the acquisition and maintenance of the team’s fundamentals, such as the field. They organise events, ensure sponsorships and facilitate the integration of our robot within the robotics world through persistent networking with other teams and professionals in the field of technology. For example, one notable event that they put together was the South Performance League, where we gathered 10 teams, prepared the location (available because of our partner and sponsor International School of Bucharest) with stands and refreshments, and put up the necessary equipment for an off-season event. However, for this event to even be possible, we first had to secure some sponsorships such as AquaSara, and Kimbo coffee. In doing so, the Andromeda PR team underwent essential networking and socialisation and therefore wheeling our progress forward.

Together, the hardware frame, the software brains form and the PR wheels form the complete Andromeda Robotics team: a team that moves forward, stands strong, and thinks strategically. Each department, with its unique role, contributes to the whole, proving that success in robotics isn’t just about one component. Instead, it’s about collaboration, dedication, and the seamless integration of all parts.

Sincerely,
Andromeda
